Hotelz Asia 2007/08 Travel Blog - Pre Trip Planning
We plan to Fly from Australia with Tiger Airways via Singapore to Chiang Mai, Thailand leaving late November 2007 and returning January 2008.
What's arranged so far
 Flying Tiger Airways Perth - Singapore - Chiang Mai (Thailand)
Explore Chiang Mai then head up to the Chiang Rai - Mai Sai area by minivan to explore the northern border areas. Cross the border into Tachilek, Burma for a look around. Then drive on through the mountains to visit Phetchabun, Thailand.
From there, Drive to Khon Kaen in North East Thailand and stay a while, exploring places including the Chonnabot Silk village and several important Khmer ruins. Travel to Udon Thani.

On arrival in Singapore travel directly from the airport to Johore Baru (JB), Malaysia, and check in for a night at the Tropical Inn Hotel in downtown JB. Time to check out JB's popular evening markets and take a quick look around.

Flying Air Asia Johore Bahru to Kuala Lumpur
The morning we catch an early flight from JB to Kuala Lumpur. From KL airport its a fast train ride into KL Sentral station, where we meet up with a friend for hot tea and curry at a delightful Indian restaurant a short walk from Sentral. After luch we catch a shuttle bus up to the Genting Highlands resort, about an hour from Kuala Lumpur.
At Genting we are spending four nights at the world's largest hotel at 6118 rooms, the First World Hotel. The time will be spend relaxing at the resort, exploring the nearby area and taking a couple of day-trips into Kuala Lumpur.

After four nights at Genting Resort, we head back to Kuala Lumpur to catch a bus or train down to Singapore. Arriving in Singapore in the late afternoon, we are escaping the tourist hordes and checking into the Frangrance Chrystal Hotel in Geylang for 2 nights.
Geylang is Singapore's night-life area for locals with a slightly seedy reputation and plenty of outdoor restaurants at which to drink beer and watch the passing circus. Hotel rooms are an absolute bargain in this area of Singapore and there is an MRT station nearby linking up with the whole island.

Flying Tiger Airways Singapore - Udon Thani (Thailand)
Back to North East Thailand for a few weeks rest and recreation. After Christmas day, we are hitting the road for Laos.
Planned is 2 nights accommodation in Vientiane, Laos, in the country's newest and most luxurious resort hotel on the Mekong River, the Don Chan Palace.
