Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
From 2006/07 Travel Blog
Book a room at Berjaya Times Square Hotel here.
We had booked apartments at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Jalan Imbi
in Kuala Lumpur and arrived overawed at the massive scale of the place.
There is a 10 storey shopping mall, an amusement park, IMAX movie
theatres, restaurants and two massive blocks of apartments separated by
a huge pool area with great views over KL. There is also a food court on
level 10 with reasonable food. You can read more about the Berjaya complex here.

Check in was really, really slow with only half a dozen staff on duty in
such a big hotel. 40 minutes later we had our keys and were in our
apartment. Ok it was a little tattier than the hotel's brochures
suggest, but there was a living area, bedroom, kitchen and large
bathroom and wc. Lots of room and everything you could possibly want to
buy or eat in the mall below.
We even had a panoramic view over the city, directly overlooking KL's
old Pudu Prison.
When we tired of exploring the hotel complex and pool we hit the
shopping mall and wandered for hours. Right outside is the Imbi
monorail station, linking you up to the whole city.
This is a great spot to stay, and many folks never even leave the
building. You can even stock up on beer and food at a supermarket in the
mall on the LG floor or the 7/11 outside the front of the hotel.

Business breakfast room at Berjaya Times Square
Locally
there are other big hotels and a lot of seedy old chinese restaurants,
snooker halls and karaoke bars.
I was almost dreading breakfast at our hotel
because this massive hotel has 900 suites and the breakfast buffet
resembled a zoo with hundreds of folks trying to get a seat, long queues
and screaming children.
For once, we had struck gold, as we arrived at the "business breakfast
room" which was part of the upgrade deal we had booked.
This place was
nice and we lingered there every morning - in a hotel with thousands of
guests it was rare to see more than 3 or 4 of the 20 tables in the
dining area occupied.
More importantly the food was good, the coffee was sublime, both
rarities considering "free" hotel breakfasts are usually pretty
mediocre. Not this place. Polite but unobtrusive service which allowed
us to linger, chat, read newspapers and drink extra coffee.
