Asia's top nightlife spots are the big cities of Bangkok and Manila, and the major Thai resorts of Pattaya and Phuket. In sprawling Manila the most raucous nightlife is still to be found in Makati, with Angeles City perhaps more popular. In both spots you will find a mixture of anything-goes bars and nightclubs, pubs and restaurants.
Bangkok lives up to its reputation in the nightlife stakes, with major entertainment strips scattered across the city in areas like Patpong Road, Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza heading the list for sheer numbers of bars and clubs. Watch your wallet in these places and have fun! Bangkok also has plenty of mega discos, sophisticated theme bars and all manner of jazz and live music venues. Truly something for everyone.
Pattaya, a beach resort south of Bangkok, has a lousy beach but is lit up like Las Vegas at night, offering every vice imaginable. There are hundreds of open air bars and restaurants and the place rocks all night long.
Much further south, Phuket's Patong Beach is a smaller version of Pattaya with equally frenzied night life and much better swimming beaches.
Neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, China and Indonesia are more restrained but there are still plenty of options when it comes to pubs and late night clubs.
Cambodia and Vietnam are fast becoming known for no holds barred nightlife.
The major cities in Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi - and seaside spots such as Vung Tao and Ha Long, are fast turning into mini-versions of Pattaya with the ubiquitous Karaoke Bars and Massage Parlours sprouting up everywhere.
Phnom Penh in Cambodia is earning an equally wild reputation for its unrestrained nightlife.
