Sentosa Island Luge
From 2006/07 Travel Blog
The Sentosa Luge is a Sentosa Island attraction that will appeal to kids or foolhardy adults. It works like this: Your buy a ticket at the top of Imbiah lookout, pick up a crash helmet (provided) then take a seat in the half-toboggan, half-go-kart contraption.
And your 'e off down a wide, winding paved street along with half a dozen or so other daredevils. The contraptions have brakes and are relatively slow and safe, despite the steepness of the track.

The Luge works in conjunction with the Sentosa Skyride, which is basically an up-and-down chairlift. Luge riders get to ride back up the hill on the Skyride.
The chairlift is fitted with grips underneath which carry the Luge-mobiles back up the hill where they are collected ready to be re-used.
The whole thing is pretty safe and controlled Singapore-style so you are not likely to lose any of your kids to mishaps.
Judging by the number of middle aged Chinese ladies I observed riding down the Luge, the attraction's slow speed is perhaps considered a good thing in Singapore.

Depending on the ticket package you purchased to visit Sentosa, you may have a Luge ride included.
My suggestion is to take the chairlift down if you are an adult, and give your tickets away to your kids or somebody else's. This ain't F1 racing.
This aside, the whole Island is an attraction for young Singaporeans who have few opportunities to escape the concrete jungle they live in. So it isn't surprising to see attractions like the Luge packed with children.
I found the Luge mildly entertaining to watch, although I admit it took a while to figure out what a Luge was! If you are visiting Sentosa, it is worth spending a while watching the fun.
