Marina Bay Spectacular - From 2006/07 Travel Blog
We headed down to Marina Bay after dark, taking the wrong route from North Bridge Road where our hotel was. In actual fact it is only a 10 to 15 minute walk across a bridge to Boat Quay in Singapore Marina Bay.
Marina Bay is breath taking at night. Hundreds of restaurants and pubs forming the Boat Quay area offer a huge array of cuisine and endless drinking holes.
The area isn't cheap - count on S$20 plus taxes and upwards for a meal and a beer. We spent S$70 for a generous meal for two which included a free large bottle of tiger Beer.

However competition is king and you are chased down the strip by menu - bearing touts and waiters who will pursue you until you make a choice. If business is quiet you will be offered discounts of 20% to 40% of your bill with your first beer free.
I guess quality varies......we had no way to try out every single place and find out. The Thai-Chinese place we ate at had excellent food and the atmosphere was friendly.
With so many places to choose from be sure to find somewhere with a table right on the waterfront - the views are what you are paying for at Boat Quay.

The views are indeed incredible on a clear night, as you can see from the images on this page.
Singapore's concrete jungle looks just great at night and the reflections on the bay are picturesque. Slow moving bumboats chug back and forth and it is incredibly relaxing.

We stuck around for an hour or two, enjoying the cool breeze and the ice cold beer. The owner was very friendly. and sat down for a chat and to fish for compliments about his cooking!
You get a peaceful crowd at Boat Quay - casual diners and folks dropping in for a few drinks after work. The pubs scattered around offer every theme imaginable and there are some great drinking spots.
As with dining , drink prices can be high, but watch out for happy hour specials in the early evening. Half price drinks are usually to be found.
At the end of the evening we wandered home, Singapore's streets are amongst the safest in the world so its OK to stroll home in the dark after dinner and drinks.
